1. What Fernwell is

Fernwell Training EHR ("Fernwell") and the Claimstead training clearinghouse ("Claimstead") are educational simulations. They are not medical records systems and are not connected to any real health plan, clearinghouse or provider. Payer names appear only to make practice realistic; Fernwell is not affiliated with or endorsed by those payers.

2. No real patient information

You agree not to enter real patient information, protected health information (PHI) or any other real personal health data into Fernwell or Claimstead. All patients, providers and claims in the system are fictional. Fernwell is not designed or offered as a HIPAA-covered service.

3. Accounts

Accounts are approved by Fernwell or by an instructor at your school. Keep your password private and do not share an account. Access lasts for the term of your plan or your school's license and ends automatically on the date shown in your account.

4. Schools and instructors

Schools license a number of seats for a set period. Instructors may approve, manage and view the progress of students in their own school. Schools are responsible for how their instructors and students use the service.

5. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to access other users' data, disrupt the service, scrape it, resell access, or use it for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

6. Educational content

Lessons, glossary entries, codes, payer rules and amounts in Fernwell are simplified for teaching. They are not billing, coding, legal or compliance advice, and may differ from current payer policies. Always follow official code sets, payer manuals and your employer's policies in real work.

7. Payments and refunds

Plan prices are shown on our website or in your school's agreement. Refund terms are set out in your order or school agreement.

8. Availability and data

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Practice data may be reset at the end of a term or at your instructor's request.

9. Limitation of liability

Fernwell is provided "as is" for training. To the extent allowed by law, Fernwell is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from its use.
